Opening a bank account should be simple, and that’s exactly how we do things at One Bank of Tennessee. Whether you need a checking account for everyday spending or a savings account to set money aside, we make it easy to get started.
No unnecessary steps or complicated rules. Just a straightforward process that gets you what you need. Read on to find out how to open an account with us.
Step 1: Choose the Right Account
Not all accounts work the same way. Some reward you; others earn interest, yet others emphasize flexibility. We provide a spectrum of choices to meet various financial demands:
- Reward Checking: You can earn interest in Reward Checking through completion of one or two monthly requirements.1
- One Free Checking: No monthly service charge; no minimum balance; no surprises.
- Advantage 55 Checking: Features two benefits for older customers, such as free checks together with interest-based earnings.
- Savings Accounts: From daily savings to specialist accounts for holidays or long-term objectives, savings accounts provide a range of options.
- Certificates of Deposit (CDs) and IRAs: Provide you with specific interest rates and tax benefits which allow you to plan your financial future.
Choose an account that meets your usage requirements since each one comes with separate features and specifications. We will gladly assist you in choosing the right account by going over the details with you.
Step 2: Gather What You Need
Before opening your account, make sure you have:
- Driver’s license, passport, or military ID—a government-issued picture ID
- Your Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) or Social Security number
- Proof of address through utility bills or signed lease documents
- Customers need to provide a minimum first deposit based on account type
For joint accounts, both candidates must prove their identities and personal details. If you’re creating an account for a child (birth to age 17), a parent or guardian will have to co-sign.
Step 3: Visit a Branch
The account opening process starts at the bank. You can access our face-to-face service at any of our branches in Middle and East Tennessee. Our team at the branches serves to help clients understand their accounts and configure them properly.
Apply for new or existing accounts by visiting our website and simply follow the application process. The application requires you to submit your information, followed by uploading relevant paperwork, while a potential initial deposit needs electronic submission (if required).
Step 4: Fund Your New
While some accounts call for an initial deposit, others don’t. Should you need to meet a minimum opening balance, you can add funds using:
- A cash or check deposit at one of our branches
- An electronic transfer from another bank
- A direct deposit from your employer
We keep things flexible so you can choose the method that works best for you.
Step 5: Online and Mobile Banking
Your opened account gives you continual access through our mobile and online banking platforms. That means you can:
- Check your balance anytime
- Transfer money between accounts
- Pay bills without writing checks
- Deposit checks using your phone (Mobile App Only / Personal Online Banking Only)
- Setup personalized balance alerts
Two-step authentication and automated session timeouts are two of the advanced security measures we employ to protect your data.2
Step 6: Get Your Debit Card and Checks
Each checking account at One Bank of Tennessee provides eligible customers with a free One Bank of Tennessee Visa Debit Card (some restrictions apply – contact us to learn more). Your Visa Debit Card from One Bank of Tennessee comes with worldwide acceptance while providing fraud protection and Visa Purchase Alerts with a card design displaying Tennessee pride.3
We will cover the costs for accounts with free checks. Customers who open an Advantage 55 Checking account will receive free checks as part of their benefits.
Step 7: Set Up Direct Deposits and Payments
Set up direct deposit with your company or benefits provider for even more ease. This guarantees that, absent physical checks, your paycheck is automatically transferred into your account.4
Online bill pay allows you to plan payments, thereby enabling you to stay on top of monthly costs.
